Submissions of book-length writing // Accepted during reading periods

Info & Guidelines

After three years of hosting an (Audio)Chapbook Contest, we've decided to change things up a bit. We're opening our doors for general book-length submissions during two reading periods: April-June & October-December

But this magazine is all about audio, so any accepted manuscripts will be produced into (Audio)Books; there will be no physical, printed version. Please keep that in mind before submitting! 
Please follow these guidelines specifically. All submissions should receive an automatic email reply to confirm that your submission made it to the right place. If you do not receive this automatic email, please double-check your submission (especially the subject line) and resubmit as necessary
  • Any genre (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, hybrid) written in English
  • Anything from 30-100 pages
  • Only previously unpublished manuscripts are accepted
  • Simultaneous submissions are encouraged (just withdraw it, so we can celebrate your success)
  • ​Paste cover letter into the body of the email with a short note that explains why you want your work published in audio format
  • Attach manuscript as a Word document or PDF
  • Send submissions to goldwalkmagATgmailDOTcom with BookSub as your subject line (please do NOT add anything else to the subject line as some submissions are getting misfiled)
There is no cost for submission, but anything donated will go straight into producing the (Audio)Books and providing payment to our authors

Something to consider that we don't think needs stating (but we will anyway): Donating does NOT increase the likelihood of your work being accepted 
Golden Walkman seeks and will prioritize work from underrepresented voices. If you belong to a group that is underrepresented, please put UnderRepBookSub as your subject line
